Project Lockers 

The Project Lockers in the Library i-Space are provided for the temporary storage of prototypes, models, and other work-in-progress items created or used in i-Space. These lockers are intended solely for project-related, short-term use and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis through an application process.

Eligibility

PolyU staff and students enrolled on programmes leading to PolyU awards.

Loan Period

The maximum loan period is one calendar month. The loan period begins on the first Monday of the month or the date of approval and ends on the last Friday of the same month. If the start or end date falls on a public holiday, it will be deferred to the next working day. 

Service Hours

The Lockers are accessible during Library opening hours.

Quota

  • One locker per eligible individual user or project group at a time.
  • Maximum of 5 members per project group.

How to Apply

  1. Schedule a consultation session by completing the online form.
  2. Meet with library staff to discuss your project storage needs and compete the application form. 
  3. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation email indicating your assigned locker cabinet and loan period.

Responsibility and User Guide

  • The Library is not responsible for any loss or damage of items stored. 
  • The use of the locker shall comply with Library regulations. Users who violate the regulations will be subject to disciplinary action.
  • Under normal circumstances, Library staff will not open your lockers. However, the Library reserves the right to open the lockers in exceptional situations, such as when we suspect the presence of hazardous and odorous items.
  • Successful applicant can access the assigned locker by swiping her/his PolyU card on the reader at the top of the locker, next to the control screen.
  • Pack all items securely to avoid damage the locker, its contents, or other property, ensure the locker door is fully closed.
  • Properly enclose hard objects and hand tools to prevent damage or interior scratches.
  • Keep the locker (inside and outside) clean and tidy.
  • Empty your locker by the end of the loan period.  If the locker is not cleared on time, the Library will open the locker and dispose of all contents immediately without further notice or liability.
  • The lockers are not transferable.

Items Prohibited

  • DO NOT store anything illegal, staining, odorous, wet, perishable (food/drinks), causing disturbance or nuisance, or with safety or hygienic concerns.
  • DO NOT store valuable personal items, e.g. wallets, cash, mobile phones. Keep them with you.
  • DO NOT store personal belongings not related to the project e.g. gym bags, clothes, personal laptops.
