Audio Visual Collection

(Third Floor)

A wide variety of audio visual materials on various subjects selected by academic staff and librarians are available for users. They include DVDs, VCDs, audio CDs, multimedia packages, instructional computer software, microforms, maps, charts, slides, etc. All can be searched on the OneSearch Discovery Platform. We have also provided some lists of AV materials for users' browsing, like new AV materials, new motion pictures, awarded/nominated films, most popular AV titles, etc. You may also have a look on our Media webpage for more details.

Video-on-Demand:  Video programmes, where copyright permits, are also provided online for remote viewing within the PolyU network. They can also be viewed in designated group rooms and carrels in the Multimedia Commons. These videos include current affairs and documentary programmes produced by various local TV channels, fashion videos and other educational videos.

Local Television Programmes:  The Library has been recording the current affairs and instructional programmes produced by various TV channels since early 1980's. All current programmes are available in VOD in mp4 format if license permits. The local TV programmes can be searched on the OneSearch Discovery Platform by keywords, titles and various subjects.

Online Audio Libraries:  The Online Music Library contains over one million tracks of music, encompassing classical music, contemporary and traditional jazz and blues, nostalgia, world and folk music as well as Chinese music, along with detailed composer and recording information.

Slide Collection:  The Collection contains over 260,000 slides on art, architecture, fashion design, graphic design and other technical subjects related to PolyU courses. Users are welcome to ask for assistance at the Multimedia Commons counter (ext. 6870) for locating the slides they need.
