# Some AV items have been restricted for in-house use only due to very high user demand, copyright restriction, technical limitation or at the request of teaching staff.
* Items may be renewed any number of times from the date of the initial check-out until the due date reaches the limit of the “maximum renewal” period, if the item is not recalled or requested by another user. Late returns / renewals are liable to fines.
Library Notices
Due date reminder, overdue, recall, reservation pick-up, and other Library notices will be emailed to your registered email account.
Quiet Study Areas
Quiet, individual study spaces are available on 5/F, 4/F, 1/F, and in L003 on G/F. Conversations in whispered voices are allowed but should be kept to a minimum.
Group Discussion Areas
Group Discussion Areas support discussion and collaboration within designated areas in the Library:
- G/F Group Study Zone & 4/F i-Space are furnished to support group study activities.
- The P/F Multipurpose Hall is an enclosed area for quiet discussion.
Current Awareness Centre
Current Awareness Centre, a comfortable lounge area located near the Library entrance, is designed to bring you easy access to new books, the latest issues of popular magazines and daily newspapers, and the PolyU Reads Collection for leisure reading.
LibCafé@PolyU
LibCafé@PolyU is an ideal spot to take a break and refresh your mind while inside the Library. The LibCafé provides a lively and simulating atmosphere for social interaction and ideas exchange.
Computers
Eligible to use the PCs (excluding PCs located in 3/F Multimedia Commons and 4/F i-Space) available on all floors of the Library on a walk-in basis. NetID is required to log in. Please refer to NetID & NetPassword for details.
Printing, Scanning & Copying
Find black-and-white printers and photocopiers on every floor of the Library; some of the machines support colour printing and scanning. Access to thermal binding and lamination services is also available at the 4/F i-Space. Materials could be purchase via Technical Support Desk, payment by Octopus card is accepted.
Wi-Fi Services
For PolyU alumni who graduated after April 2011, please follow the wireless LAN setup and login procedure in the ITS website to connect your notebook and mobile device to PolyU Wi-Fi network. For PolyU alumni who graduated before April 2011, you are required to register for an alumni NetID in order to access the PolyU Wi-Fi network. A free Wi-Fi service by Wi-Fi.HK is also provided to the general public. To connect, please refer to these set-up instructions.
Battery Recharging
If your mobile device is low on battery, drop by the Battery Recharging Station on P/F, 4/F and 5/F for a quick charge.
Off-campus Access
Log in with your Alumni NetID and Net Password to access selected databases with off-campus access code "A". The list of selected e-resources and access arrangement is subject to change by the Library without prior notice.
