About the Speaker:

Dr Ying Lou is a managing editor in SAGE Publishing. She is also the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Cell Transplantation. She started her career as the scientific editor of Molecular Plant, then joined Springer Nature, overseeing several BMC series journals. In 2019, she became the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Cell Regeneration and the editorial advisor of Molecular Horticulture.

She obtained her Ph.D. degree in molecular genetics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), followed by a postdoctoral career in Brookhaven National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy, USA, and later worked as a project scientist at the University of California Davis.

She grew up in Sham Shui Po and has since wandered off to Chicago, Shanghai, Poland, and Switzerland, before deciding to return home where her heart is. She was the former corporate trainer for Expedia Inc's 400+ employees across Asia Pacific with expertise in storytelling, public speaking, communications, change management, and sales & negotiations.

Olivia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics from Northwestern University in the United States and a Master of Social Sciences Degree in Global Political Economy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

With increasing emphasis on Open Access (OA) by the Research Grants Council (RGC) and PolyU, understanding how to make your research articles Open Access (OA) is crucial.

Designed for early career researchers who have little to no publishing experience, this seminar will provide you an overview on getting your research published, with a focus on tips you need to know about OA. Prior to joining Taylor & Francis, Victoria conducted postgraduate research in Geography at The University of Washington.

New 24x7 Automated Book Return Station at Campus Entrance near the Library

A new wall-mounted automated Book Return Station has been set up at the campus entrance area near the Library to make it simpler and faster for you to return Library materials even after Library closes. Beginning 10 October 2022, Library users can follow the on-screen instructions, return PolyU books and AV materials, anytime, 24x7, to obtain an immediate update on their Library loan record. Log in to myRecord to see the most recent status of your library loans and fines.

 

  • Location:
    Campus entrance near the Library - Outside the campus turnstiles on the Podium Level near public footbridge connecting to Exit A of Hung Hom MTR Station.
     
  • Service Hours:
    24 hours a day, 7 days a week
     
  • Accepted Items:
    PolyU books and AV materials
