[Publishing Seminars] Open Access Publishing in IOP Journals
Learn more about publishing your works in IOP journals including publishing in open access without paying the Article Processing Charges (APC).
In this seminar, Dr Antigoni Messaritaki, Senior Publisher in Physics and Biomedical journal portfolios, will guide you through the process of publishing in IOP journals.
The IOP Publishing Transformative Agreements (TA) is one of the many agreements signed by the Library to facilitate open access (OA) publishing. In the second part, Dr Darren TY Zheng, who made use of the full APC waiver to publish two OA articles in IOP journals, will share his first-hand experience with us.

About the Speakers:
Dr Antigoni Messaritaki, the Senior Publisher of IOP Publishing, is leading the strategic and editorial development of Physics and Biomedical journal portfolios, including Machine Learning Science and Technology, Quantum Science and Technology and Biofabrication.
Dr Messaritaki is a physicist with a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Bristol University, UK. Before joining IOP Publishing, she worked at Bath University as a postdoctoral researcher.
Dr Darren TY Zheng is a postdoctoral researcher at PolyU, focusing on electrode materials of rechargeable batteries, battery health monitoring, and real-time battery sensing.
In 2021, Dr Zheng completed his doctorate in PolyU and received the “PolyU Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship'.

[Publishing Seminars] Open Access Publishing in Cambridge University Press Journals
Join our upcoming seminar to learn more about publishing your work in Open Access journals by Cambridge University Press (CUP) without paying the Article Processing Charge!
The Library has been working closely with various publishers, including CUP to obtain cost-effective Transformative Agreements (or Read-and-Publish agreements) which enable PolyU researchers to publish their work in Open Access with full waiver of Article Processing Charge (APCs).

About the Speaker:
Dr Ying Lou is a managing editor in SAGE Publishing. She is also the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Cell Transplantation. She started her career as the scientific editor of Molecular Plant, then joined Springer Nature, overseeing several BMC series journals. In 2019, she became the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Cell Regeneration and the editorial advisor of Molecular Horticulture.
She obtained her Ph.D. degree in molecular genetics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), followed by a postdoctoral career in Brookhaven National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy, USA, and later worked as a project scientist at the University of California Davis.

She was the former corporate trainer for Expedia Inc's 400+ employees across Asia Pacific with expertise in storytelling, public speaking, communications, change management, and sales & negotiations.
Olivia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics from Northwestern University in the United States and a Master of Social Sciences Degree in Global Political Economy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
