Library Podium Floor Re-Opens on 16 March 2020

From 16 March 2020, Podium Floor of the Library will be open to PolyU staff and students only from 9:00am to 7:00pm Mondays to Fridays until further notice.  The rest of the Library and the 24-Hour Study Centre will remain CLOSED.

At this point, Graduate Card holders and other fee-paying card holders will not have access to the Library until further notice.

Podium Floor has been set up for individual study, with a safe social distance between seats. Please do not move the tables or chairs around. All users are required to wear face masks in the Library. Water dispensers are suspended, and users may bring their own bottles of drinking water. 

Physical Resources Retrieval Service for PolyU Staff & Students

  • While the P/F reopens, the rest of the Library Spaces remain closed. PolyU Staff and Students who require access to print books and physical AV resources of the Library can request for their retrieval using the Physical Resources Retrieval Service.
  • The requester will be notified by email when the retrieved items are ready for self-pick-up and self-checkout at the Reserve Collection Area on P/F at 9:00am – 7:00pm (Monday – Friday).

HKALL and Interlibrary Loan Services

Eligible PolyU staff and students can also request books from other UGC funded university libraries using the HKALL service via OneSearch. Eligible PolyU staff and students can also request for books from overseas libraries using Interlibary Loan Service

Computer and Printing

Computers, printing, scanning and photocopying services are available for users on a first-come, first-served basis.  Users are encouraged to bring their own notebooks and use Wi-Fi printing

Bloomberg Workstation (P/F)

Eligible users can book a Bloomberg workstation located on the P/F using the Library iBooking System.

Access to i-Space Equipment by Appointment

PolyU staff and students can access and make use of certain i-Space facilities and equipment by making an appointment at the Library iBooking System.

Return of Library Items and Waiving of Fines

  • To continue facilitating teaching and learning, users can return their borrowed items on or before the specified due date as far as possible. The due date of your borrowed item(s) can be checked via login to myRecord using your PolyU NetID.
  • Please return Library items to the book drop situated below the Loan & Return Counter, or via the 24-hour book drop outside Library when Library is closed.
  • Users can also choose to return their items at a later date. Items returned within one week after face-to-face classes resume on campus will have their overdue fines waived. This applies to library materials with due dates previously extended up to 20 Jan 2020, or due on or after 29 Jan 2020.  Please ignore the overdue notices automatically generated during this period
