APA Academic Writer is a digital learning platform developed by the American Psychological Association (APA). It helps students, educators, and researchers master APA Style and build scholarly writing skills.

The platform provides tutorials, writing templates, sample papers, integrated reference management, instructional videos, grammar and style guides, reference formatting tools, and collaborative writing features to support the entire academic writing process.

 

Note on Personal Accounts and Data Retention
Academic Writer requires a personal account to save papers, references, and other user-created content.

Please be aware of the following data retention policies from the APA license agreement:

  • If you are no longer affiliated with PolyU (or another subscribing institution) and have no active access, you may retain read-only access to your own papers for 2 years, after which your account and all content will be permanently deleted.
  • If your account is inactive (no logins to authenticated areas), it will be retained for 4 years. Thereafter, you may access your own papers for an additional 2 years, followed by permanent deletion.

We strongly recommend periodically exporting or downloading your work to prevent any loss. For complete details, please review the APA Terms of Service.

 


Important Notes:

  • Users should not use Virtual Private Network (VPN) service when accessing e-resources from off campus. This may trigger suspension of user's account.
  • For security reason, you are advised to change NetPassword regularly via IdPortal and follow the password rules. Please visit the ITS website for details.
