The question as to whether the United States or the USSR was more to blame for starting the Cold War has produced heated debate among twentieth-century historians. This oral history collection will provide a unique opportunity to read the recollections of many of the players in the Cold War, including Valentin Berezhkov, former translator for Josef Stalin; Zbigniew Brzezinski, former U.S. National Security Advisor; Dr. Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of State; Nikolay Leonov, Deputy Chief of the First Chief Directorate of the KGB; Adolf Thiel, U.S. missile scientist; Roland Timerbaev, principal Soviet arms control negotiator, and many others.
