Representing the Allied Powers led by the US, the UK, China, and the USSR, the Far Eastern Commission (FEC) was the top-level policy formulating body with regard to the occupation of Japan and the implementation of the terms of surrender of Japan stipulated by the Potsdam Declaration. The FEC was dismantled following the Japanese Peace Treaty of September 8, 1951. The present collection consists of mimeographed minutes, memoranda, reports, laws, and proclamations that document all the activities of the multinational FEC, which oversaw the postwar governing and reconstruction of Japan.
