The Making of Modern Law: British Colonial Law: Acts, Ordinances, and Proclamations from the Colonies brings together acts, ordinances and proclamations passed by and for British colonies in the Twentieth Century. This archive comprises a remarkable collection of primary sources that chronicle the evolution of the legal landscape of the British Empire. The volumes of acts within this archive, all sourced from the National Archives UK, are digitized from the copies of acts—sometimes the only extant versions—that were certified, sealed, and then sent to the Colonial Office in London by the governing powers of each territory. These documents record the legislation and consequent development of the colonial legal system in each colony.
