《上海差報》於1868年由英國報人休·郎（Hugh Lang）在上海創辦，不久後改名為《上海晚郵》。該報帶有明顯的「通報」與「差遣消息」性質，內容多為官方信息轉述或簡要快報（具體依實際版式與內容而定），屬於早期上海外報中較具情報傳遞特色的刊物。

此報適合用來研究19世紀中後期上海的信息傳播方式、早期報刊形態，以及西方報業在中國的本土化嘗試。
