PolyU Library is excited to announce trial access to several e-resources featuring AI-powered research assistant tools.

These platforms offer intuitive interfaces, advanced data analysis, and personalized insights to support your research, work, and studies.

We invite you to try out these tools during the trial period and share your feedback with us using the surveys form. Your input will help us evaluate their value for our community!

AI-Research Assistants on Trial

  • ScienceDirect AI (till 05 Nov 2025)
    ScienceDirect AI is an integrated workflow companion that provides researchers with immediate access to authoritative evidence from peer-reviewed publications. It is designed to address common research challenges, including:
    - Accessing answers from a vast collection of full-text articles, book chapters from ScienceDirect, and open-access content. Researchers can gain deeper insights through AI-driven recommendations tailored to their specific inquiries.
    - Easily comparing experiments and synthesizing literature.
    - Consulting a Reading Assistant directly when opening any article or book chapter.
  • Scopus AI (till 30 Sep 2025)
    Harness natural language queries for concise, peer-reviewed summaries. Access Deep Research for comprehensive reports, Concept Maps for visualizing topic connections, and tools to track emerging themes and leading researchers.
  • Web of Science Research Assistant (till 30 Nov 2025)
    Conduct natural language and multilingual searches across 21,000+ journals, 205,000 conference proceedings, and 104,000 books. Gain topic summaries, co-citation data, research trends, journal submission guidance, and identify top researchers using over 1 billion cited references.

Scopus AI is an advanced generative AI search tool designed to enhance scientific research by utilizing the extensive Scopus database which includes metadata, abstracts, and author profiles from over 29,200 peer-reviewed journals. It helps users quickly and accurately retrieve, summarize, and explore information.

The key features provide trusted, citation-backed summaries to ensure veracity and minimize hallucinations  (incorrect or fabricated answers); generate concept maps for a bird's-eye view to help users understand research questions more effectively; identify and explain the work of leading researchers from over 19.6 million author profiles via its topic experts function ; and offer smart research assistance through suggested follow-up questions and curated lists of papers.

The key features of CNKI AI include Ask a Question, Article Research, Collection Research, Intelligent Writing, and Originality Detection. These features encompass the entire research journey, from discovering literature and conducting thorough readings to organising knowledge and generating results, significantly enhancing research efficiency and quality.

Please access the trial within campus IPs, and log in with your personal account or register one before use.

The key features include pre-application evaluation, assistance with technology disclosure, and patent intelligence analysis, all of which enable the optimisation of patent strategy and layout.

This year, we have chosen One Day by David Nicholls, a captivating novel that inspired a popular Netflix series. * Fetching books in the cordoned off area will be affected. Please approach P/F Service Counter for assistance.

Disturbance will be minimized but noise is unavoidable. Please proceed to the other Wing on the same floor or other floors for quiet study during the works period if needed.
