The materials on the South concern relations with the US, the political climate, and problems plaguing the government. There is information on key political figures, the military, opposition groups, communist organizations, religious sects, ethnic groups, and labor unions, as well as censorship, corruption, and the peace negotiations. Materials on the North concern their efforts aimed at gaining peace and unification. There is information about operations in the south, Hanoi’s attempts to infiltrate the south politically, its relations with China and the Soviet Union, the economy, foreign aid, the Paris peace talks, and subsequent violations of the Paris agreements.
