Crime, Punishment, and Popular Culture, 1790-1920 contains manuscripts, books, broadsheets, periodicals about crime, its solutions, and the popular response in the long nineteenth century. It presents primary sources from several disciplines, including law, criminology, history, and literature, and geographic areas, such as Europe, North America, India, and the Antipodes, to explore the history of crime during its most rapid period of evolution and associated legal/penal systems .
