大學數字圖書館國際合作計劃以“共建共享”理念為指導思想，以先進的技術手段，全面整合國內高校圖書館、圖書情報服務機構、學術研究機構所擁有或生產的各類信息資源及其相關服務，有重點地引進、共享國際相關機構的各類信息資源與服務。對包括書畫、建築工程、篆刻、戲劇、工藝品等在內的多種類型媒體資源進行數字化整合，項目建成的資源覆蓋理、工、農、醫、人文、社科等多種學科，通過因特網提供壹站式的個性化知識服務，向參與建設的高等院校、學術機構提供教學科研支撐。
