Creative Engagement Activities Supported by Student Assistants

Connie Lam - Student Assistant

The Pao Yue-Kong Library organizes various student activities to cultivate a supportive learning environment for students. For example, the READ@PolyU Common Book Reading Programme, the Best of Luck for Exams, etc. Under the supervision of Library staff, student assistants assisted in planning, promoting and organizing the activities. Connie Lam was one of the student assistants.

  • What was your role in these projects?
"I was involved in the whole process, from brainstorming for ideas till the compilation of reports. My duties included researching for the plans, drafting promotional materials such as emails, posters, Facebook messages, etc. I worked closely with the Library team, who provided friendly guidance throughout the process. The Library staff not only gave suggestions to us, but also provided feedback and comment in order to refine our works. Through effective collaboration and discussion, the final events were well-received."

  • What have you gained from the projects?
"My creativity has been stimulated through brainstorming for ideas in different projects. It was amazing and satisfying to see my ideas to be adopted and become an actual event or product. I sincerely hope that students will enrich and enjoy their university lives by actively participating in various student activities and hence benefited from them."

"Besides, I have a better understanding of the facilities and services provided by the Library, which absolutely enhances my study. I am also happy that my knowledge can help my classmates and friends when they have questions about the Library resources, services and activities."

"I am honorable to be a student helper at the Library and get a chance to explore my potentials, and bring my skills into practice. It was a precious and meaningful experience for me!"
