Looking for new books acquired by the Library recently? Find them at the New Books section at the Current Awareness Centre on P/F and also in the trays hanged on the book shelf end panels in the reading rooms. Feel free to take these new books from the trays for reading or borrowing at Loan & Return Counter.

Posters of selected e-books can also be found on the book shelf end panels. Just follow the QR code to access it with your mobile devices.

All Library notices (e.g. Items checked out, Due date reminder, Overdue, Shortened loan period, Pick up requested items, etc.) are emailed to your official PolyU/CPCE account for eligible users. For other users, notices will be sent to the email account provided to the Library in your Library card application.

To receive the Library notices without delay, you may want to check and make sure they will not be moved automatically to the Clutter or Junk Email folder in your MS Outlook. You may also add a personal email account in your Library Record so that Library notices can be received at both your official PolyU/CPCE account AND your personal email account. It can be easily done by login myRecord and click “Add/Remove Personal Email”.

A new video wall has been set up at the Seminar Room in the Research Enhancement Centre on 3/F. It aims to facilitate staff and students’ research activities. The video wall is composed of nine 46-inch LED TV panels with a resolution up to 5760 x 3240 pixels. It allows up to 9 simultaneous and individual inputs for graphic visualization. It accepts audio and/or visual input signals of computers, laptops, mobile devices with Wi-Fi connection and various AV equipment. Instant screen mirroring from different sources can be projected to the video wall which facilitates visualization of data and images for academic discussions and idea exchanges. A built-in signage system can display different images, video sources and rollers with customizable templates. Studio@Multimedia Commons has been open since Oct 2015. To provide the best support and fulfill the up-rising video recording quality needs of our users, the equipment of the Studio has been upgraded recently. A visual mixer and audio mixer are added so that chroma key effects can be viewed instantly and recorded directly to save the time of post-production. The camcorders have been upgraded to support production of higher quality videos. Bomb microphone is also added to cater for different recording scenarios. Go-pro camera is also available to extend flexibilities in video recording. Come and learn to make your own production with our Studio’s professional setting and equipment!

 

 

Music Corner with 2 CD players and headphones has been set up at the lobby area in front of the Multimedia Commons Counter on 3/F. You may listen to your borrowed music CDs from the AV Collection, or listen to our staff-picked music CDs there. Audio splitters are also provided so that you may use your own headphone to listen to the joyful music. When you drop-by, sit down to enjoy the music and relax for a while!
