Update on Library Space Enhancement Project 

To create a variety of functional areas to support new pedagogies and learning activities, the Library has completed the renovation in 4 different Library areas, including the Reference Collection area (3/F), Multipurpose Hall (P/F), 24-Hour Study Centre (G/F) and Media Services (3/F). Some minor touch-up work will be undertaken for the latter two areas in May-Jun 2015. 

  • 24-Hour Study Centre (G/F)

    The newly renovated 24-Hour Study Centre is expanded and some furniture arrived in Mar 2015.  More flexible furniture will be available in this collaborative study space for users soon. A monitor has been installed in each group study room and whiteboard will be provided soon to facilitate discussions and presentation preparations.  Minor touch-up work will be conducted after examination period in May 2015 and setting up of new furniture is expected to complete in Jun 2015.

  • 3/F Multimedia Commons

    The Multimedia Commons has been re-opened in Feb 2015.  Users can now browse the audiovisual collection on open shelves. Group Viewing Rooms are available for online reservation via iBooking System. Additional enhancement work, including lighting improvement, Studio facilities upgrade and exit door replacement will be arranged in May-Jul 2015.

  • Compact Shelving Project in Room L019 (G/F)

    The compact shelving project in G/F Room L019 will be completed by mid-May 2015. More than 90,000 volumes of bound journal currently being kept in Kowloon Tong remote store will be moved back and shelved on the compact shelves after examination period. The shelving area will be re-opened for user access by Jul 2015.

  • Compact Shelving Project in Room L010 (G/F)

    The compact shelving project in L010 will be started from mid-May 2015 for housing more bound journals. The Reference materials will be relocated from this room to Reference Collection area (3/F) and Discussion Zone 1 (G/F). The compact shelving installation is expected to complete by end of Jun 2015.


Update on Minor Building Works

  • L003 and L019 Refurbishment (G/F)

    In addition to the improvement work in Dec 2014, Facilities Management Office (FMO) will conduct carpet replacement in Room L003 and L019 (G/F) in late May 2015. With the carpet upgrade the room should look brighter and more contemporary. This room will also be converted into a collaborative study area soon with a variety of new and flexible furniture.

  • Alteration Work in Room L002-L003 (G/F)

    The renovation project of L002 is finally completed. 25 individual study carrels have been added in the area which merges with the Quiet Study Zone in Room L003 (G/F). Minor rectification work will be arranged after examination period.
