Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme

The Pao Yue-kong Library has won the “Silver Award” in the Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme 2015 co-organized by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC).

Web Accessibility refers to the practice of creating pages available to all users, including persons with disabilities. The Library website has achieved all 14 judging criteria to incorporate key web accessibility features, including a text alternative for non-text contents, a keyboard interface to use the website, interoperability with assistive technologies, etc.

While the accessibility focuses on disabled, all users are indeed also benefited from its enhanced usability and search engine optimization (SEO), which make it easier to access the web content, thus resulting in an increased effectiveness.

For details about the scheme, please refer to the government website at:

Library Survey

During Feb to Mar 2015, the Library conducted a survey to collect feedback on our services, resources and facilities. A total of 3,682 completed surveys were received. The Library would like to thank all participants for their valuable time and contribution.

The overall satisfaction rate in 2015 remains at a high level 4.05 (out of a 5-point scale). Postgraduates were most satisfied (average score at 4.18), followed by academic/research staff at 4.17.

Among all Library services, users were most satisfied with services provided by our friendly and knowledgeable Library staff, followed by enquiry services. They were, however, least satisfied with Library space and equipment provisions, in particular, space for group study or projects, computers in the Library, and photocopiers/printers.

An Action Plan to address the received comments will be compiled and made publicly accessible on the Library Homepage soon.

Congratulations to the lucky draw winners who won fabulous prizes, including iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, Samsung Galaxy Tab S, and book coupons. The prize presentation ceremony was held on 8 May 2015.
