New Multimedia Commons (3/F) Opened in Mar 2015

To support the changing needs of our faculty and students, the Library is glad to present the new Multimedia Commons on the 3/F. The audio visual materials are now in open stacks for users’ browsing. In addition to the physical AV Collection, brand new facilities are provided for faculty and students to create multimedia contents for their projects. There are 54 carrels equipped with AV equipment and workstations installed with graphics, audio, and video editing software. Seven Group Viewing Rooms with capacity of 3 to 30 persons are available for collaborative learning activities. The IT Lounge is designed to support interactive and collaborative learning. A video studio is another highlight of the Multimedia Commons where video production equipment will be provided with technical assistance. Students of various disciplines will enjoy the experience to learn about professional video production. They will be able to record their presentations for class projects or create multimedia contents for other creative use. Faculty will be able to record their interviews or speech to share with students, and create class materials by blending his recorded presentations with multimedia contents.

Reserve Books List 2015/16

The Library is now reviewing the Reserve Book Collection for provision of update course readings in the new academic year. Academic staffs have been invited to update the Reserve books list and course readings list by email in May 2015. Your reading list will allow us to purchase any textbook/reference materials that are currently not in the Library’s collection and to build an enhanced Course Reading List linked to the Library’s catalogue that can be exported to the LEARN@PolyU subject page for your students to readily access. To ensure the Reserve books and other core reading materials are available in the new academic year, your reply and new recommendations is much appreciated.
