Library Resources for Students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)


The Library is committed to developing a barrier-free learning environment and provides equal opportunities in the academic pursuits of students with special needs. The Library has purchased many audio and video programmes, including audio books, music tracks and lectures in various subjects, especially useful for the students with special educational needs (SEN) to listen to books with high quality text-to-speech voices.

    This is a collection of documentaries and interviews illustrating the history, theory and practice of art, design and architecture.
     
  • Business Education in Video
    The videos in this database feature executive interviews, corporate training video and case studies. Subjects covered include globalization, operations & logistics, management, marketing, finance, strategy, entrepreneurship, macroeconomics, microeconomics, international business, negotiations, ethics, cross-cultural communication, technology, and much more.

    This database provides online collection of videos available for the study of social work, psychotherapy, psychology, and psychiatric counseling. 
     
  • Counseling and Therapy Online: Current Practices
    This database is a multimedia collection that addresses the current best practices for counseling and therapy. It includes transcripts of real therapy sessions, video presentations by practicing therapists as well as presentations and publications by renowned academic therapists.
     
  • Nursing Education in Video
    This database is a unique online collection of videos created specifically for the education and training of nurses, nursing assistants, and other healthcare workers. 
     
  • Opera in Video
    The streaming video database contains 200+ important opera performances, captured on video through staged productions, interviews, and documentaries. 
     
  • Rehabilitation Therapy in Video
    This is a streaming video resource assembled for the study of occupational therapy, physical/physiotherapy, and speech-language pathology. 
     
  • Sports Medicine & Exercise Science in Video
    This database is an extensive video collection  assembled in the areas of fitness and health assessment, disease management, injury treatment, nutrition, medical fitness, sport science, work-site wellness, exercise adherence, and much more. 
     
  • Theatre in Video
    This streaming video database contains performances of the world's leading plays and film documentaries on the subject of theater.

    This database takes a structured and analytical approach to the entire process of job-seeking, from deciding on your career all the way through to accepting a job offer and negotiating your salary.
     

3. Digital Theatre Plus
It offers streamed films of leading British theatre productions for educational use in schools, colleges and universities.

4. Harvard Faculty Seminar Series
This series features engaging video lectures from renowned professors and experts at the Harvard Business School.

5. Henry Stewart Talks
The 199 titles of seminar-styled briefings from leading experts in their field provide a balanced range of well-researched information covering both the fundamentals and the latest thinking.

6. Gale Virtual Reference Library
This database includes encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. The text includs an audio version of the documents as an MP3 file.

7. Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE)
This video collection of JoVE provides peer-reviewed scientific video protocols to accelerate biological, medical, chemical and physical research.

8. Kai Juan Ba Fen Zhong (開卷八分鐘)
It contains videos of book review television programs of Phoenix TV (鳳凰衛視). Mr. Liang Wendao (梁文道) introduces books in 8-minute programs.
 

 

9. Local TV Programmes
The website contains the programs from Asia Television Limited (ATV), Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB).

10. Naxos Online Music Library
It contains over one million tracks from more than 90,000 music albums encompassing classical music, contemporary and traditional jazz and blues, nostalgia, world and folk music as well as Chinese music.

11. Naxos Online Music Library Jazz
The database offers over 90,000 tracks of jazz from more than 8,500 albums.

12. Naxos Online Spoken Words Library
The database provides spoken words from more than 5,000 albums of classic novels, plays, poetry and non-fictions literature from medieval times to the 20th century.

13. OnArchitecture
It is an online audiovisual service providing a synthetic, deep and detailed panorama of the world's main authors, works, experiences related to the field of architecture.

14. Spoken Word Services (Glasgow Caledonian University)
Based at Glasgow Caledonian University, the Spoken Word Services provides access to various audio resources, including BBC current and archival materials, audio recordings from the Glasgow Centre for Population Health events, Glasgow Caledonian University Archives Witness Seminars, and many more.

15. TIB|AV-Portal
It is a web-based platform for quality-tested scientific videos from the realms of technology/engineering, architecture, chemistry, information technology, mathematics and physics developed by The Competence Centre for Non-Textual Materials at the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB). A key feature of the portal is the use of different automated video analyses.
