MEDLINE is one of the premier resources for medical research. Medline data can be accessed via several platforms at the Library website. If you are interested in Medline, you may access to Medline (via EbscoHost). If you intend to search for Medline data along with other biomedical and/or Life Sciences information, please use PubMed or Embase.

Medline (via EbscoHost)

It covers more than 25 million journal articles in life sciences with a focus on biomedicine research and citations from over 5,200 journals worldwide in 60 languages. PolyU Library used to subscribe Medline via OVID, but we have switched to EbscoHost since the beginning of 2019. The interface of EbscoHost is different from OVID, but the Medline content is the same.

 

 

PubMed

It has a coverage of about 28 million references (including the 25 million Medline data), with data contributed from journals/manuscripts deposited in PubMed Central (PMC). It provides some free full-text articles archived in the PMC and other open sites. If you visit PubMed through the Library website, you will see the access options linked to PolyU library collections, where you can retrieve full-text articles from the PubMed search results.

 

 

 

EMbase (via Elsevier)

It contains many journals from 1947 to the present. To date, it has over 32 million records (including 25 million records from Medline), and 8,500+ journals from over 95 countries, in which over 1,900 indexed journals are unique to EMbase. The PICO search mode in EMbase is worth-noting as it can lead to the formation of advanced search strategies. It speeds up the process of building a PICO-based query with easy access to EMtree terms (EMbase’s indexing thesaurus containing about 75,000 preferred terms and subheadings) alongside with non-thesaurus terms on the same screen.

 

 

 

Anatomy & Physiology Online (via Anatomy.TV)

If you are looking for good teaching or learning materials on anatomy, please try this interactive audio-visual resource that helps you to learn lively and precisely. You can toggle the images and investigate the human body in various angles in need, and reveal information layer by layer at your command.

The Library has subscribed three sets of contents through Anatomy.TV. They are (1) Anatomy & Physiology; (2) Speech Language Pathology under the “Clinical Specialties” section; (3) Massage and Manual Therapies under the “Therapy” section.
