With enhanced infrastructure and new facilities, the revitalised G/F North Wing and 3/F provide inviting spaces to support new learning and teaching styles.
The Library has launched a new self-service Book Return Station on the exterior wall of the Library, providing a simpler and faster way for users to return Library materials anytime, 24x7.
The new top floor (6/F) of the Library has come to service since 4 July 2022, which marked the completion of a major phase of the Library Extension and Revitalisation (LER) Project. The new upper floor significantly enhances the environment and facilities for collaborative learning and individual quiet study. New internal bridges have been built to enhance the navigation between North Wing and South Wing of the Library. Learn more about the updates on the LER project now!
For many, finding a specific book, locating a group room or a computer with required software in the multi-storey Library building can be a challenge. Try using our new wayfinding and navigation kiosks located near the lift lobby of each floor to find your point of interest in the Library effectively and quickly.
We are almost halfway through the LER project now. The 24-Hour Study Centre has been reopened to users since late September 2021. The Podium Counter Area is now under renovation, with completion expected around early April 2022. Temporary Service Counters and Reserve Collection have been set up at the Multipurpose Hall until further notice. To enhance safety and performance, the two passenger lifts in the Library have undergone a full replacement. Through the proximity sensors of the lift panel, you can simply wave a hand to select the Library floor you would like to go.

Library users are now welcome to use our new UV-C Disinfection Chamber near the Digital Visualisation Room at 4/F North Wing to sterilize Library’s digital equipment, i.e. laptops, tablets, VR devices, electronic IoTs, headphones and other AV equipment.
Heading into 2021, the Library will continue to provide strong support to meet the needs of students and staff in the new normal, including the use of digital library, services and facilities to bolster online learning and teaching, and more.
PolyU/CPCE students and staff can now enjoy the flexibility to check out and check in digital equipment and AV accessories via the Self-service Kiosks at i-Space and Multimedia Commons respectively. To streamline the process of loan and return of books and audio-visual (AV) items, more self-checkout stations are now available on the Library Podium Floor.
Two new self-service studios will be available in September 2020 to facilitate the production of online teaching and learning materials by staff and students. To adapt to a new stage of learning and teaching, these studios will also be equipped with video conferencing facility for staff and students to conduct online interviews and presentations.
