User Friendly Self-service Library Facilities

Self-service technologies become part of our lives, especially in time of pandemic. To better meet the users’ needs and to enhance self-service experience, PolyU Library has offered a wide range of self-service facilities and we have highlighted a few of these as follows:

Self-service Studios at Multimedia Commons (3/F North Wing)

To support online teaching and learning, the Self-service Studios at Multimedia Commons (3/F North Wing) are available for students and staff to conduct online interviews/presentations, video production and sound recording with AV equipment and software.  You can reserve the studios through the iBooking system.

  •  One Button Studio – It provides easy-to-use equipment for users to make quality video recording for presentations, small scale interviews, rehearsal for speech, thesis and dissertation defenses, etc.
  • Online Learning Studio – Equipped with a 4K webcam and common video conferencing software, the studio facilitates students to attend live classes, discussions and other online learning activities.
  • Sound Recording Studio – The studio features professional sound recording equipment and digital audio workstation (DAW) software, enabling students and staff to carry out sound production, audio or video dubbing, record narrations for PowerPoint, etc.

Laptop Lockers at 5/F South Wing

Temporary storage of users’ laptop computers are now available at 5/F South Wing (near Staircase No. 1). Students and staff may use the self-service laptop lockers to store their laptop computers for a short period of time while on short break from studying in the Library. The service is available on a first come, first served basis. Items stored should be retrieved BEFORE THE LIBRARY CLOSES on the same day the items are stored.
