Carrel Occupancy Sensors Now in Use

New Carrel Occupancy Sensors are now in use in the Library to support fair access to high-demand study spaces. The implementation helps users easily identify available carrels and manage short breaks by placing holds, improving seat utilisation while promoting responsible use of shared facilities.

Enhancement of Study Space and Facilities

Over the summer, the Library underwent an exciting transformation, with upgraded furniture and equipment introduced throughout its various floors. These enhancements demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing a comfortable and versatile environment that supports a wide range of learning styles and needs.

Sound Level Meters in the Quiet Study Areas

Our Library is launching an initiative to enhance the study atmosphere. Sound level meters have been installed in the quiet study areas at 5/F and 4/F South Wings, as well as in the 24-Hour Study Centre, to monitor noise levels. We invite all users to help create a pleasant study environment by being mindful of their noise levels.

Looking for a study space which is devoid of unnecessary distractions? In addition to 1/F, 4/F and 5/F, semi-enclosed study carrels are now also available at G/F and 3/F South Wings of the Library.

Updates on the Library Extension and Revitalisation (LER) Project

The new top floor (6/F) of the Library has come to service since 4 July 2022, which marked the completion of a major phase of the Library Extension and Revitalisation (LER) Project. The new upper floor significantly enhances the environment and facilities for collaborative learning and individual quiet study. New internal bridges have been built to enhance the navigation between North Wing and South Wing of the Library. Learn more about the updates on the LER project now!

Update of the Library Extension and Revitalisation (LER) Project

The Library Extension and Revitalisation (LER) Project will transform the PolyU Library into a modern learning hub for the PolyU community. The project works have commenced in late July 2020 and the whole project is set to be completed by the 4th quarter in 2023.

Changes of Physical Library Spaces amid COVID-19 Pandemic

As affected by the pandemic, the Library has temporarily rearranged its physical space for individual study only. All group rooms and 24-Hour Study Area remain closed. As a precautionary measure, it has reduced its seating capacity and all seats are spaced out for social distancing. Barriers are installed for seats opposing one another.
