Safety Precautions During COVID-19 Pandemic

Safety Precautions

Your safety is our top priority.  The Library has put in place a series of measures during COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the safety of all library users when using library spaces and borrowing our print resources.

  • Library furniture is spaced out with lower seating capacity. Dividers are installed between seats.
  • Transparent protective shields are installed at all service counters.
  • Additional self-service kiosks for checking out loanable digital devices and AV accessories are provided at i-Space and Multimedia Commons.
  • Books received from other libraries via HKALL or Interlibrary Loan Services are first set aside for a minimum of 48 hours then put into the UV book sterilizer before re-shelving or passing on to users. Books returned by users or used inside the Library will also be disinfected with the UV sterilizer.
  • A self-service UV book sterilizer is provided on Library Podium Floor for users to sterilize books.
  • Cleaning in high traffic areas and high-touch surfaces are strengthened. Hand sanitizers are provided at the Library entrance, service counters, and near self-check stations.

Protect Yourself & OthersWe ask that you do your part to keep the Library a safe place for everyone.

  • Wear a face mask properly at all times in the Library.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and faces. Practise hand hygiene especially after using public facilities or materials.
  • Bring your own computing devices.
  • Practise social distancing. Do not move Library furniture.  Remain behind the protective shields at the service counters.
