Publish in Open Access without Article Processing Charge(APC)? – OA Options for PolyU Authors

Making your research open can increase the visibility of your works and research. Be it Open Access through Self-Archival in PolyU Institutional Research Archive (PIRA) or Open Access via Publishing, there is always an OA option for researchers with different research goals.

Progress of Library Extension and Revitalisation (LER) Project

We are almost halfway through the LER project now. The 24-Hour Study Centre has been reopened to users since late September 2021. The Podium Counter Area is now under renovation, with completion expected around early April 2022. Temporary Service Counters and Reserve Collection have been set up at the Multipurpose Hall until further notice. To enhance safety and performance, the two passenger lifts in the Library have undergone a full replacement. Through the proximity sensors of the lift panel, you can simply wave a hand to select the Library floor you would like to go.

The Historian-in-Residence: Dr Joseph Ting Digital Humanities Website

Dr Ting Sun-pao, Joseph, is an eminent scholar of the history of Hong Kong and was PolyU’s Historian-in-Residence 2018/19. He shared various valuable talks, exhibitions, and study tours with the PolyU community through the years. The newly launched website collects and preserves all the information of the Historian-in-Residence: Dr Joseph Ting digital humanities project so that users can re-use them for academic scholar research and reference easily.

Feature Stories of Outstanding Work by Students

The PolyU Outstanding Work by Students (OWS) exhibition and online portal showcase stories about award-winning work and inspiring projects by students, as well as videos capturing their learning experiences. Eight new feature stories are now exhibited on the the OWS online portal.

Self-check Service for Loan and Return of PolyU Books and Audio-Visual Materials

The Library self-check service has been further enhanced and extended to cover the returning of Library materials. Through a designated self-check station on the Library Podium Floor, you can return books and audio-visual materials on your own during Library’s opening hours.

Online Payment Service for Library Overdue Fines Available Now

Overdue fines will be incurred for late return of library materials. With the introduction of new online payment methods, you can have more flexibility in payment options for your overdue fines in addition to cash payment.

New Online Service to support JULAC (Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee) Library Card Application

Eligible students and staff may now apply for a JULAC Library Card online to access and use the resources and facilities offered by eight member libraries including The University of Hong Kong Libraries, The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library, City University of Hong Kong Library, etc.
