Establishing the Regional Hong Kong and Macau Ex Libris Alma User Group

Inaugural Regional Hong Kong and Macau Ex Libris Alma User Group Meeting at PolyU Library (26 August 2024)

The Regional Hong Kong and Macau Ex Libris Alma User Group held its inaugural meeting on 26 August 2024, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration of libraries across the regions. Twenty-four institutions from Hong Kong and Macau participated, underscoring the growing interest and commitment to enhancing the development of the Ex Libris Alma system, a cloud-based Integrated Library System (ILS) commonly in use. The PolyU Library has been assigned the pivotal role of inaugural chairperson for the year. The user group will convene regular meetings to discuss topics of common interest related to the Ex Libris Alma system.

The primary objective of the user group is to foster cooperation and connection among Alma users in the Hong Kong and Macau regions. By creating a collaborative platform, the group aims to enhance and optimise the utilisation of the Ex Libris Alma Integrated Library System, and effective management of library resources.

This initiative is expected to significantly benefit the participating institutions by streamlining library operations, improving resource sharing, and ultimately enhancing the overall user experience for library patrons. The collaborative efforts of the Regional Hong Kong and Macau Ex Libris Alma User Group will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of library services in the regions.
