Bridging Campus and Community: Showcasing Student Excellence through PolyU Outstanding Work by Students (OWS)

Have you ever considered that your studies at PolyU could help combat deadly diseases? Vivian QIN, a student from the Faculty of Science, is making a remarkable impact with her research on enhancing immunotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a common and deadly form of liver cancer. Her work is focused on advancing our understanding of HCC and developing improved treatment options for this life-threatening disease.

Beyond human health, PolyU students are also making strides in animal welfare. Harry CHAU, a student from the School of Design, is passionate about recognising and respecting the rights of all animals. He developed a Transitional Housing initiative—a shelter featuring remote monitoring technology to safeguard the well-being of both cats and their caretakers. Through his project, Harry aims to raise awareness and promote better practices in animal welfare.

These are just two examples among hundreds of inspiring learning stories from our students. PolyU students consistently motivate both our university and the wider community with their creativity, compassion, and dedication to making a positive impact on people and all living beings.

Posters featuring the award winners of the PolyU Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition 2025 and the Faculty of Science 3MT Competition 2025 are also now on display!

Come and explore how our students turn “what-ifs” into “what’s next” as we celebrate creativity and excellence at PolyU OWS Showcase on the Library Podium Floor and the Online Portal.
