  • New Study Space: More Seats, More Group-Study Rooms

  • As the Learning Hub of the University, we endeavor to fulfill teaching and learning needs in every way possible. To optimize usage of Library space, the following measures have been implemented:

    69 More Seats with Laptops* Available at REC (3/F)

    69 seats (with laptops installed with Microsoft Office) have been made available for user study in the REC Teaching & Learning Labs 1 and 2 (3/F) when the rooms are not occupied for Library events. The rooms will be cleared 15 minutes before instruction classes based on the day schedule displayed at the room entrance. Please take note of the day schedule to plan your study. Subject to review, these seats and laptops are available on first-come-first-served basis. No advanced booking is needed.

    *Please note that laptops will be removed during Exam Period 7 - 27 Apr 2012

    Re-open of Room L010 (G/F)

    Room L010 (G/F), formerly Compact Store 1, has now been re-open as a Group Discussion Room. All users are welcome to use this Room for group study and discussion. No booking is required.

    4 Group Rooms in Media Services (3/F) for Presentation Preparation

    Four group rooms in Library Media Services (3/F) have been made available for user discussion and presentation purposes. Users can connect to the projection screen or 37-inch LCD monitor in these rooms with their notebook PCs for preparing presentations. The rooms are provided to users in a group of 4-20 persons on first-come-first served basis. Users can approach the Media Services Counter for using these rooms.

    Special Arrangements during Exam Period (7-27 Apr 2012)

    To cope with high occupancy rate during examination periods, the following measures have been implemented:

    • Additional 259 seats throughout the Library
    • Additional 300 seats at Room L003 on the G/F available for 24-hour access
    • Limited Access Arrangement (18:01 – 23:00) has been applied on JULAC Student Card Holders to allow priority use for PolyU users
