  • Publishing Workshop - Dos & Don’ts of Publishing
  • The Library understands researchers’ need to keep up-to-date with the publishing world. We regularly invite speakers from renowned publishers to deliver workshops for PolyU researchers. The latest workshop of this kind was conducted by Ms. Rosalia da Garcia, the Sales & Marketing Director of SAGE Publishing. SAGE is a leading social science publisher who has played a central role in the development of key disciplines, including evaluation, communication studies and research methods.

The workshop was very well received by faculty members and promoted active dialogue between both parties.

For those who were unable to participate, please visit SAGE Journals Online (http://online.sagepub.com/) to view the journal’s articles, TOCs, type of articles being published.

  • Information Sharing Session – to Select a New Discovery Service

  •

The Library always strives to enhance your experience of searching and discovering resources for your research and studies. A Discoverability Working Group was set up in Oct 2010 to evaluate and recommend a Discovery Service# for the PolyU community. In the selection process, we took into consideration many criteria: search functions, user-friendliness, journal coverages, etc., and most importantly, users’ opinion and evaluation. An information sharing session was held on 28 Feb 2011 to seek faculty and researchers’ viewpoints on the Discovery Services.

We would like to thank those who attended the information sharing session and shared their concerns and gave feedback.

We appreciate very much the valuable comments received from the participants. It will certainly help us select a Discovery Services that meets our users' need.

    # A discovery service is a search interface to pre-indexed metadata and/or full text documents. By searching pre-indexed data discovery services return search results very quickly.
