Introduction

The University Library plays an important role in contributing to academic success, teaching and research excellence at the University. To further align library services and resources supporting the learning, teaching and research needs of the University, the Library has consulted the University community widely in 2007 resulting in the formulation of the Preferred Library Scenario, i.e., what the University community wishes the Library to be in 2011. Since the dissemination of the Preferred Library Scenario to the University in February 2008, the Library has launched an array of initiatives and projects targeted to achieving the Preferred Library Scenario. The purpose of the Library Week is to increase awareness in the University community as well as to update PolyU staff and students of the progress of the Preferred Library Scenario. All major new initiatives and enhancements undertaken by the Library since 2008 will be showcased in the Library Week.
