Library users with valid PolyU NetID and NetPassword may connect their notebook computers to the campus network and the Internet through the fixed and wireless network in the Library.
Using Wireless LAN (WLAN)
PolyU
The wireless network is accessible in all public areas in the Library. Users are required to configure and authenticate their notebooks once and all future logins will be authenticated automatically. To configure your notebook, please see the wireless LAN setup and logon procedure in the ITS web site.Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi Internet connectivity is now available to University staff and students at numerous PCCW and Y5ZONE hotspots around town. Reciprocally, non-PolyU Library users who are current PCCW or Y5ZONE subscribers may now connect to the Internet right from the Library network. Non-subscribers may purchase a day pass online for temporary use. Details of access are available on the wireless LAN login page when connecting your notebook in the Library.
Using Fixed LAN Ports (SPAN)
The fixed LAN ports are located at the Media Services Section (3/F) carrels B1 - B20 and all Research Carrels (for eligible research carrel users only). Users are reminded that they have to follow the SPAN logon procedure in the ITS web site in order to connect to the campus network.
Notebook connection cables are available for loan at the Library Circulation Counter on the Podium Floor.
Technical assistance on using the LAN services may be obtained by calling the ITS HelpDesk at 2766-5900.
