Remote Access to Library e-Resources

Library databases and electronic journals are accessible remotely by PolyU students, faculty, staff, and Library registered external users. Due to the restriction of license agreements, some databases may allow off campus access only by certain groups of PolyU users. Please note the Remote Access Codes on the Database A-Z List for authorized remote access rights.

Remote Access for PolyU Students, Faculty and Staff

University students, faculty and staff with a valid PolyU NetID and NetPassward may access Library e-resources remotely by way of either one of the following venues. The Remote Access Codes for this group of users are “A”, “P” and “U”.

PolyU VPN (Virtual Private Network)
The VPN service allows a PolyU user to access a variety of e-resources off campus via an external ISP (Internet Service Provider). To use the VPN service, a VPN client software must be installed in the PC. Please consult the PolyU VPN Setup and Connection Guide in [English], [Chinese] or [Tutorial] for details.

PolyU Dial-up Facility
A total of 322 dial-up lines are available for use by the University users. Please consult the Dial-up Number and Setup Procedure for details.

Remote Access for Library Registered External Users

Library registered external users, including valid holders of Borrower’s Tickets (Graduate, Special, PolyU Privilege Card, and CEO Club Member) and cardholders of Long Serving Retirees may access a selected number of databases off campus via the WAM Services (Web Access Management Services). The Remote Access Codes for this group of users are “A” and “U”.
