How to Find AV materials on Online Library Catalogues
This Search Guide will show you how to search for Library's AV materials in the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).
On the Library Homepage:
Click to enter the Catalogue Menu from the Library Catalogues icon.
Pull down the "Change to" list to select Audio Visual Collection.
In the Audio Visual Collection web page, you may:
Search for solely AV materials by author, title, subject, keyword or call number.
Browse the featured AV Collection:
In the Keyword Search menu:
Enter the distinct words or phrase containing information on author, title, subject or topic of the required item(s) to search for relevant items.
You may limit the search by selecting an appropriate material type from the Material Type drop-down list.
You may also limit the search to solely AV materials by specifying Audio Visual Collection in the Collection Subset drop-down list.
In Keyword search, the following search terms can be used to combine with other keywords to locate AV materials in specific formats.
Search Terms To Search For videorecording videocassettes, video LD, VCD & DVD sound recording sound cassettes, sound discs & mini-discs (MD) interactive multimedia interactive CD-ROM programs electronic resource e-books, e-databases, e-learning programs & computer disk programs slide single slides and slide sets s: map maps microform microfilm and microfiche feature films movies feature films and s: Japanese Japanese movies features films and s: comedy comedy movies
(2) Using Call Numbers to search for Movies
˙PN1997 for movies ˙PN1997.A12 for French movies ˙PN1997.A13 for German movies ˙PN1997.A14 for Chinese movies ˙PN1997.A15 for Italian movies ˙PN1997.A16 for Japanese movies ˙PN1997.A17 for Swedish movies ˙PN1997.A18 for movies in other languages ˙PN1997.5 for animated movies
On AV Display -- Items located in New AV Display Shelves and available for loan (if not also indicated as "Due").
Lib Use Only - Items for use inside the Library only and not for loan out.
Re-order -- Items damaged or lost and being on order.
In process / Being processed -- Item in preparation and not yet ready for use.
