Collection Development
Collection Development is identified as one of the 6 key strategic areas of focus in the Library Strategic Plan which in turn was built upon the Preferred Library Scenario. The Preferred Library Scenario sees the University Library as “The Learning Hub of the University” by 2011. To help realize this vision, the Library Strategic Plan puts forward a roadmap to achieving objectives in each of these key strategic areas.
In Collection Development, it is the Library’s objective to develop a collection to support the educational and research missions of the University, with particular emphasis on developing outstanding research collections to support high-quality research of international excellence. To achieve this objective, the Library has revamped and redistributed staff efforts to create a Collection Development Model targeted to fully utilizing the manpower resource and subject expertise of all professional librarians in the University Library.
