Library Weeding Exercise (March 2010)
Invitation to Academic Staff Members to Examine Books to be Weeded

To make the best use of Library space and to keep our collections current for our students, the Library conducts weeding exercises on a regular basis to remove outdated, obsolete, worn-out or no longer required books from the Library Collection.

In the current exercise, circulation books with multiple copies and/or zero/low usage with class nos. H (Social Sciences, including HA-Statistics, HB-Economic theory, HD-Management, HF-Marketing, Accountancy, HG-Finance, HJ-Public finance, HM-Sociology, & HV-Social welfare), J (Political Science) and K (Law) and published prior to or in 1999 have been selected for weeding, with the proviso that at least one copy will be retained in the Library. This will reduce older less relevant materials ready for the infusion of new 3-3-4 materials.

In order to ensure the weeded materials are definitely no longer required by the PolyU academic community and could be disposed of, academic staff members are now invited to examine these weeded items.  Books will be on view in the Library’s Special Collections (4/F) between 1 March (Monday) to 12 March (Friday), 2010.

For further information or enquiries, please contact the Collection Development/Liaison Librarian, Ms Mei Li, at 2766 6699 or email lbmeili@polyu.edu.hk
