24-HOUR STUDY CENTRE
Temporary closure from 24 December 2007 to 13 January 2008
and
New arrangement commencing 14 January 2008

Temporary closure

Please be informed that the 24-hour Study Centre located on the Ground Floor of the Library will be temporarily closed from 24 December 2007, 11:00 p.m. to 13 January 2008, 8:30 a.m. for the installation of power sockets and LAN ports. During this period, Library users may wish to use Rm. S403 (one floor up the Maxim's student canteen) for self-study. This work is necessary for enhancing the facilities in this study centre. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and urge you to schedule your study plan accordingly.

New arrangement - 6 Group rooms designated as ALL-QUIET ZONE

In a recent survey done in October/November, Library noted students' concern on noise in the 24-hour Study Centre and users' need for different study and discussion space.

To address this issue, the Library will, after Library closes, divide the 24-hour Study Centre into two zones:

  • The 6 group rooms (39 seats) will be designated as ALL-QUIET study space. No noise is permitted in this zone. Seat reservation is not allowed - one person one seat.
  • The remaining area outside these 6 group rooms inside the 24-hour Study Centre will be used for discussion.

The Library would like to take this opportunity to appeal to all users of this Centre to be considerate and keep their noise level at a minimum even when they are in the discussion zone.
