Library Circular 2007/07
Wider Reciprocal Access to Other UGC-funded Libraries
I am pleased to announce that effective 1 August 2007 and for a trial period of 2 years ending 31 July 2009, UGC-funded postgraduate non-degree students at PolyU will also be able to apply for borrowing privileges at other UGC-funded libraries, namely:
The Chinese University of Hong Kong,
City University of Hong Kong,
Hong Kong Baptist University,
The Hong Kong Institute of Education,
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,
Lingnan University, and
The University of Hong Kong.
UGC-funded undergraduate degree students at this institution will also be able to apply for reader access to the above-mentioned libraries. Registration is valid until the end of the academic year, that is 31 July each year. Renewal will be required yearly. There will be a fee of $50 for each host library for each registration and renewal.
Application forms for the Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC) Library Tickets are available at the Circulation Counter on the Podium Floor of the Library. Please come in person and bring along your PolyU student ID card and a passport-size photo. The ticket will be issued to you on the spot.
It is essential that you obtain your JULAC Library Ticket at the PolyU Library first before you visit the other libraries. You will individually be subject to the library regulations of those institutions you visit. Please note that a JULAC Library Ticket is a privilege, not a right.
Please be kindly reminded that it may be faster and more convenient on occasions for you to request the books directly via the Hong Kong Academic Library Link (HKALL). Details are located at
http://www.lib.polyu.edu.hk/services/hkall.
Should you have any queries, please contact the Circulation Counter at 2766-6864.
Good luck to each of you in your studies and challenges.
