Book Delivery Service

This service allows eligible users to request NEW PolyU Library books for delivery to their department mail stop on the PolyU campus during regular office hours.

User Guide

  • Eligibility:

    PolyU FULL-TIME academic and administrative staff of equivalent status as designated by the PolyU Human Resources Office.
     

  • Rules:
    1. You may request books from the Circulation stacks with the following locations:

      • Circulation Coll
      • Cir Coll Large Bk

      AND with the item status “Available”.

      Please be reminded that requesting large numbers of books may take more time in processing and delivery.

    2. All other borrowing privileges like loan quotas, loan periods, recalls, renewals, fines, loss etc. remain the same as existing:  http://www.lib.polyu.edu.hk/services/loan_privileges#aca

    3. You may return the book via the Library’s Circulation Counter, the 24-hour Book Drop or campus mail (packaged in an envelope).

    4. We CANNOT deliver Reference, Special Collections, Reserve books and other non-circulating books (damaged, on order, withdrawn, billed, in-process, in repair, missing, on display, etc), Audio-Visual materials, journals, interlibrary loans and HKALL loans.

    5. If the book is checked out, please put a request on the item (or HKALL item if any) with your own Library account and PIN. Please note that when you receive a “Book Reservation Pick-up Notice – Library”, you will need to come to the Library to pick it up.
       

  • Procedures:
    1. Set up Preferred Searches in the Library homepage > MyRecord.

    2. Receive the weekly email “New Library Materials and Book Delivery Service”.

    3. Input “y” in the relevant REQUEST [ ] and reply to Sender (i.e. : lbcirser@polyu.edu.hk).

    4. The turnaround time is generally 3 business days Monday to Friday.

    5. We will retrieve the book from the stacks, CHECK IT OUT to your Library account and then send it to the PolyU campus mail for delivery to your department mail stop on campus.

    6. Check your current book loan information at MyRecord.

    7. To ensure privacy, we will package all items in envelopes.
