As an integral part of the Library's quality assurance process, the PolyU Library has been conducting user satisfaction survey annually since 2000.
Moving it a step further, the Library together with all other JULAC libraries except the Hong Kong Baptist University, decided to participate in the LibQUAL+ 2007 Survey offered by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). The reasons for having this project are 2 folded: First the Library thought it desirable to introduce an internationally recognized tool such as LibQUAL+ for measuring user satisfaction. And secondly, given that most UGC libraries would participate, the survey would be useful for libraries to make comparison locally and internationally. |

| What have been done...Our Next Steps |
The complete PolyU LibQUAL+ Survey results, together with 2,891 user comments and also comparisons with other JULAC libraries and 3 library consortia: ARL, SCONUL, and CARL, were analyzed and presented to Library staff and the Library Management Team in early February 2008. The top 5 most important services and the top 5 areas needing improvement were identified. Library Strategic Planning Working Groups/teams were assigned to study in-depth these 10 areas for enhancements. Improvement plans will be incorporated into future Library Business Plan and the Library Preferred Scenario for implementation.
