New Names and Faces Around the PolyU Library

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Ivan Chan Sai Bun as our Associate Librarian (Digital Development and Services) on 2 Mar 2017. He obtained the Master of Computer Science and Master of Library and Information Management Studies from The City University of Hong Kong and Charles Sturt University respectively.  Before joining the Library, he had worked in PCCW, The Education University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library as System Analyst, System Librarian and Learning Services Librarian for many years.  With extensive experience and academic background in IT, he had developed technology-rich learning spaces, and had organized various creativity and 3D printing exhibitions to promote maker culture for library makerspace.

In his new position, Ivan is responsible for providing vision and strategic planning of the Library technology infrastructure, digital technologies and multimedia services development.  He also oversees the Systems & Digital Services and Media Services Team.  His leadership will definitely strengthen our development of digital library services and collections for the PolyU community.

Mr. Leo Wong Chi Him recently joined us as Assistant Librarian II (Media Services) on 27 Apr 2017. He brings an enthusiasm for technology and a history of excellent user support from his previous position of Library Technology Officer at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He obtained the Master of Library and Information Management from The University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Leo will lead a team of Technicians and Library Assistants to deliver media services. He is also responsible for developing and managing the Multimedia Commons, a new communal workspace in the PolyU Library to support the use and development of multimedia content in education and scholarship.

Ms. Christine Ho See Way (Assistant Librarian II) joined the Library on 13 Feb 2017. She will serve as the Faculty Librarian for English Language, working to support the teaching, learning, and research activities at the Department of English and the English Language Centre.

As a member of the User Experience & Outreach Section, Christine will also support Library programming, including the campus-wide reading programme READ@PolyU, and the development of the Library’s online reach to students and faculty.

To her role at PolyU, she brings experience from a career in education, where she taught English as a first language and ESL in Canada and Hong Kong. Prior to joining PolyU Christine worked as an Information Services Librarian at Hong Kong Baptist University Library.
