Call for Papers
The Conference Committee invites submission of papers on the following four themes:
| Theme 1 - Librarians of Tomorrow |
- our roles, values, positioning and relevancy in the future information environment
- professional competencies and skills for the future
- professional education and continuous career development.

| Theme 2 - Quality Enhancement |
- return-on-Investment, contribution of the library to students, faculty and the university
- evidence based impact analysis and performance measurement
- benchmarking & best practices among ourselves.
|
| Theme 3 - Collaboration & Networking |
- local, regional and global collaborative efforts amidst the global financial crisis
- consortia-vendor dynamics
- love-hate relationship with other stakeholders eg: Google and other cyber information providers.

| Theme 4 - New Tools & Culture |
- Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and innovative tools for knowledge discovery and information literacy
- new channels and attitude for service delivery, library advocacy and branding
- new organizational culture/structure to foster library transformation.

Abstract Submission Procedure
- Fill in the Paper Abstract Submission Form (Microsoft Word / PDF document).
- Include a title of the paper, names of all authors, affiliated institutions, position and email addresses or contact information.
- An abstract of the paper in English should be around 500 words. If the abstract is in Chinese, English translation must also be provided.
- All papers submitted must be original works which have not been presented in any conference or published in any publication before.
- Submit by email attachment to alsr.2010@polyu.edu.hk. Specify "ALSR2010 paper proposal submission" as the subject heading.
- Deadline of abstract submission: 16 October 2009.
- Notification of acceptance: 16 November 2009.
Accepted Paper Submission Procedure
- For papers written in English, please follow the Author Guidelines from the journal Library Management.
- For papers written in Chinese, the articles should not exceed 6,000 words, figures, charts and tables should be presented clearly.
- Submit by email attachment to alsr.2010@polyu.edu.hk. Specify "ALSR2010 accepted paper submission" as the subject heading.
- Deadline of accepted paper submission: 1 February 2010.
- If presentation PowerPoint is available separately, please also submit by email attachment to alsr.2010@polyu.edu.hk by 1 February 2010.
Selection Criteria
- Among the most important selection criteria are relevancy to the conference themes, innovative aspects, originality, clarity, and timeliness.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Register for and attend the Conference.
- Present the paper in English in about 20 minutes.
- Grant permission for possible audio and video recording, web broadcast, and to be archived in PolyU Institutional Repository.
- Assign first publication rights to the Conference Organizers, as all papers will be published in the Conference proceedings, and English peer-reviewed papers will be published in Library Management.
- Provide completed papers in electronic version by the deadline.
