Dear Colleague,
I am glad to have the opportunity to encourage you to attend this conference in Hong Kong in March 2010.
The issues being pursued in this conference are very important as we all work through the future for our libraries. The speakers are prominent thinkers and leaders in our profession.
Hong Kong is a logical place to conduct this conference, lying as it does in Asia, but with easy access to Europe, the America and Australasia. The conference thinking and the location for the conference will fuse new ideas in a global context for this new century.
This Academic Librarian conference is an extension of The Academic Librarian: Dinosaur or Phoenix Conference held by the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2007. It is the beginning of a new tradition.
I do look forward to giving you a very warm welcome to the conference and the bright lights of Hong Kong.
Steve O′Connor
Conference Chairman
